This is just a scrap quilt that I put together. It has lots of crazy fabric and bright colors. As you can see Stanford likes the quilt and having his picture taken also.
Although you can't see the words in this picture, this quilt is called 7 kind words. I made this for my mother for Christmas, the last Christmas that my dad was able to celebrate. Making this quilt gave me comfort and my hope was that when the time came it would give my mother the comfort that she needed. On the back I wrote "although I can't be here to give you hugs everyday, you do have this quilt to put around you and the opportunity to gain comfort from the 7 kind words". This is a quilt that my mother uses frequently and she wraps up in it while watching t.v. A simple design with lots of meaning and love.
Cute shot of Stanford on a lovely quilt! I like the crazy quilts, the well patterned star quilts, and the ones that create a picture - kind of like the Hawaiian quilts I've seen. I really love quilts = the pattern, the history, the workmanship, the warmth! I prefer them on the bed, but if I were a rich man I would have a select few as hangings on my walls - no less works of art than a Picasso! Quilts, as you show, are items that get handed down through generations.
ReplyDeleteThese quilts look fantastic! I enjoyed reading about the quilt for your mother. It made me think about how the simplest things in life can bring so much love. I've wanted to make a quilt for years with all of my t-shirts from high school (I played on the State Championship teams for both softball and basketball, so we had new shirts printed every week of our journey) but have yet to get around to it. This makes me really want to finish that!
